Kindle with Global Wireless vs. Kindle DX

The really obvious difference between these two digital reading gadgets available to buy at this time is that one only works in the United States while the other works in countries around the globe. Clearly if you live somewhere outside the States (or if you’re a US citizen who frequently travels to countries around the world) then that makes your choice clear; You must choose the Global Kindle Reading Device.

Besides that very important distinction, the clearest difference is that of size. The Kindle DX Electronic Reading Gadget is far bigger both as far it’s display and how much memory it has. It’s also much larger as far as it’s costis concerned (as of now the DX costs more than $200 more than the Global Kindle.)

While the DX is 9.7 inches, the Kindle with Global Wireless is just 6 inches. The larger screen is particularly helpful when reading a digital newspaper On the flip side, the smaller size of the smaller version may make it easier to carry with you.

There is also a large difference when it comes to memory capability. The Kindle DX can hold up to 3,500 books while the smaller version of this gadget can hold about 1,500 books, magazines, & newspapers. But really, who has more than 1,500 books?! Honestly, I have a very hard time imagining this huge amount of space that the DX has is needed for most people.

Another difference between the two is that the DX has an auto-rotating screen so that if you flip the gadget on it’s side the screen automatically adjusts itself to be read horizontally (and automatically adjusts itself to be read vertically when you flip it back.)

They both have access to about a half million books, magazines, and newspapers which can usually be bought for lower prices than their paper alternatives. These books can all be downloaded within just 60 seconds from anywhere (they have G3 wireless so there’s no need to search for wi-fi spots.)

Both kindles have a built in “text to speech” program which can turn all of your books into audio books.

Neither of these electronic reading devices have any monthly charges to worry about. The wireless service is provided a lot like the wireless for GPS navigational systems. Once you get the gadget the wireless just works, there’s nothing else to worry about and no bills to pay.

Both devices have a basic web browswer that lets you surf the web from anywhere. This web browswer is designed for text based informational sites such as Wikipedia and blogs. It’s not for pictures or videos.
