Load an iPhone in flight?

I have an iPhone with the outside of evil Elf WAAS GPS chip capable. Excellent work of the sample with an accuracy quite right that are in its path / VFR charts. However, after the chip and take a maximum light output screen of IPAD (necessary because the sun and glare) my battery drains very quickly.
